The Department of Political Science,Margherita College has a long history of excellence in teaching and research. Established in 1978 (along with the college) after a prolonged and strenuous effort of the academicians, the department is one of the leading departments under Dibrugarh University,Assam. It has a total strength of Four (4) teaching faculties out of which currently there are One (1) Associate Professor and Three (3) Assistant Professors and has more than 400 students (both major & non-major) at the graduate level. The department offers academic courses at the graduate level in Semester Mode (under Dibrugarh University) and has introduced CBCS Mode from the year of 2019 as per the Dibrugarh University regulations. The department has a Library of its own catering to the needs of the students and research interest of the faculty members. The faculties has published many books with reputed publishers, published articles in different Referred and UGC CARE listed journals indexed in Scopus, Crossref, DOI etc. and presented research papers in many National & International seminars.Alongside, several students of the department have cleared State level competitive examinations and got National Level Scholarship provided by UGC.
